What is Raised Fabric?

2Q==

What does raised mean?

It is theprocess of feathering the fabric surfaces with thorn-shaped needles with the  teasel frame. Today, it is applied in the form of feathering the fabric surface by pulling some of the fibers that make up the yarn into the fabric by metal wires.

What is the purpose of the procedure?

It is to provide a soft touch to the fabric and an insulation that will reduce heat permeability. This process, which can be applied to woven, knitted, and nonwoven fabrics, allows the fibers to be pulled from the yarns to form a feathered fabric surface.

Raised Fabric Features

The fibers on the fabric surface are pulled with the help of the hooked wires of the teasel frame and taken to the fabric surface. Thus, the fabric achieves a hairy and soft surface, and its warming retention feature increases. The effect of raising  depends on the type of machine used and the duration of the action. The fabrics used in the production of textile products such as woolen fabrics, upholstery fabrics, blankets, mantles, jackets, tracksuits, and coats are subjected to a straightening process. The raising process can be done at every stage of production and is usually among the last processes. The purpose of this is to give the fabric the final touch and appearance feature. The raising process shows different effects and handling properties on the fabric.

These are as follows:
1) Changes the heat permeability of the fabric:  There is a volume gain due to the fibers drawn from the yarns that make up the fabric. Since the expanding yarns fill the fabric pores, it reduces the air movement from inside to outside or from outside to inside. Therefore, the fabric gains a structure that retains heat.

2) The attitude of the fabric changes: Due to the gathering in the fabric, the fabric gains a fuller structure. The resulting plump structure also increases the softness of the fabric handle.

3) The appearance of the fabric changes: The fibers lifted to the fabric surface create a hairy appearance on the fabric surface, as well as soften the points where the pattern lines cross each other, especially in patterned fabrics, making the pattern contours more pleasing to the eye.

What are the characteristics of Raised Fabric?

● Since the fibers are pulled outwards, the knitting gaps are closed and the fabric keeps warmer.
● Raised fabrics are generally useful and comfortable fabrics.
● Today, many fabrics can be raised.
● When the raising process is done excessively, the fabric weakens.
● During the process, the fabric loses a small amount of fiber.
● Since it is a warm fabric, it is preferred in spring and winter.
